As one of the most popular styles of sushi in the US market, the California roll has been influential in sushi's global popularity and in inspiring sushi chefs around the world in creating their non-traditional fusion cuisine.
Californian Sushi

Maki Sushi

The rice and seaweed rolls with fish and/or vegetables. There are also more specific terms for the rolls depending on the style.

Nigiri Sushi

The little fingers of rice topped with wasabi and fillet of raw or cooked fish or shelfish. Generally the most common form of sushi you will see.

Temaki Sushi

Also called a hand-roll. Cones of sushi ricem fish and vegetables wrapped in seaweed. It is very similar to Maki.

Sashimi is raw fish served sliced, but as-is. That means no rice bed or roll, but it is often served alongside dailon and/or shiso.
